Tietoevry’s Sustainability report 2022 is published today as part of the company's Annual Report. The report, prepared in accordance with GRI Standards, represents the company’s sustainability strategy and related targets and outlines the ambitions and describes the actions for the climate, ethical conduct as well as creating an exciting place to work.

Increasing share of women to over 30% through recruitments

One of the key ambitions in Tietoevry’s long-term sustainability agenda is to increase the female representation in the company to 50% by 2030 and reach a 40% representation by 2026. By end of 2022, the total share of women in the company was 31%, up by 2% from previous year (29%)). The share of women in senior management positions remained at 23%, while the share of women in new recruits grew to 32%, up by 5% compared to previous year (27%).

“As we develop digital services for a variety of users - ensuring diverse perspectives in our service development is a business imperative for us. Reaching gender-balance in our workforce is an ambitious target and we can be pleased with the steps taken during a year with an active transformational agenda. Inclusive recruitment practices, focus on succession plans and awareness campaigns were among the concrete actions behind the progress”, says Kia Haring, Head of Communications, Brand & Sustainability at Tietoevry.

Tietoevry joins forces with other companies and industry organizations to enforce the attractiveness of tech-field for women. The company is active in e.g., Women in Tech and SHE Community -networks across the Nordics. Furthermore, a booklet “Being an IT girl” was launched to showcase roles and career paths of Tietoevry professionals – to create interest for girls to choose a career in technology.

Solid progress in emission reductions

During 2022, Tietoevry made solid progress in emission reductions in scopes 1 and 2 – reaching up to 70% reduction in CO2e emissions compared to the base year 2020. This development was driven by the increased use of green energy in data centres and offices globally (95%). Furthermore, advancing circular economy practices across the company has been a focus area in 2022, resulting in 93% of the returned laptops used internally and 95% of the returned customer devices being reused or recycled.

A key milestone towards Net-Zero ambitions was reached through verification of the company’s commitments to the Science Based Targets in May. Furthermore, Tietoevry created a carbon handprint guidebook to demonstrate the climate benefits of its products and services; to exemplify the positive impact that digital solutions can have on our customers’ emissions.

“We are progressing according to our plan on our environmental ambitions. Increasing transparency across the value chain is a focus area going forward as purchased goods and services constitute over 90% of our total emissions – so managing scope 3 emissions with improved data accuracy is essential. This requires active collaboration across businesses and value chains. At Tietoevry, we also recognize our role as enabler and are committed to help our customers to capture the sustainable benefits of digitalization”, Haring concludes.
