Mobile networks are growing and developing rapidly. In Finland, an average of 16 GB per month per person was transferred in 2016 and in the future this number will grow both in Finland and on a global level. With the introduction of 5G, mobile technology will revolutionize corporate production processes, services and our society infrastructure as a whole. This development will also enable a new kind of emphasis on safety, efficiency and new solutions.
The aim of the 5G Finland network is to create and pilot end-user applications and services enabled by the 5G technology. Telia launched the network through an open invitation in November 2017. Tieto and Telia are jointly exploring how, for example, virtual reality solutions and services could be introduced into the 5G world.
- Networks and ecosystems bring together professionals from different fields, allowing us to take advantage of multidisciplinary know-how for the common good. We are delighted to continue our great cooperation with Telia for the development of 5G technology, says Jouni Malinen, Director at Tieto.
- Tieto is an excellent partner for the 5G Finland network. The company has made advanced IoT and new mobile technology pilots, and we will definitely be able to promote 5G through tangible and interesting projects within the network, says Janne Koistinen, head of 5G at Telia Finland.
Tieto has comprehensive experience of utilizing new communication network technologies in the new generation network architectures. In radio networks, for example, Tieto has more than 20 years of experience of adapting them to the needs of different industries. In 5G, Tieto is already involved in developing technologies for both radio and core network. Through this ecosystem, Tieto will naturally expand more into the development of 5G solutions.
