Marginalen Bank takes next steps in cloud journey with TietoEVRY SaaS lending platform

02 November 2020

Marginalen Bank has chosen TietoEVRY to deliver its new SaaS lending platform. With this new partner agreement, Marginalen Bank will be able to focus on digitalizing the customer journey and developing new, value-adding propositions for consumer and commercial customers, knowing IT operations will run smoothly.

As one of Sweden’s leading digital banks, Marginalen Bank has been working closely with TietoEVRY for a number of years. During much of this time, they have been utilizing TietoEVRY’s lending platform, which is now being transitioned to a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution in a private cloud.

“Moving our core systems to SaaS is part of our overall Cloud Strategy,” says Anna Bokström, Lending Digitalization Lead at Marginalen Bank. “We looked at several providers and decided TietoEVRY had the best solution for our needs moving forward. With their experts taking care of the day-to-day management and development of the lending platform, our IT team can concentrate on the areas where they have more expertise and can add more value. By taking this next step into the cloud, we expect to become more agile and increase speed to market.”

The TietoEVRY lending platform offers many benefits including automated risk scoring for loan and mortgage approvals as well as loan administration services, within a secure and compliant environment. Moving to the cloud provides the same benefits as an on-premise service, while offering a more flexible and scalable solution that removes the need for managing and updating software and hardware. With hosting removed from the equation, focus can be put on end customers and exploring new digital opportunities in line with a bank’s core operations.

“Banks by their very nature are risk-averse, but they are now starting to fully embrace the cloud,” explains Jonas Brännvall, Head of Product, Credit Solutions & Services at TietoEVRY. “More and more banks are beginning to see the benefits on offer from a cloud solution. For one thing, costs become much easier to predict – because you only pay for what you use, not what you may need sometime in the future. Also, there have been a lot of mergers and acquisitions in the financial industry, which means many banks are running multiple IT systems. Outsourcing operations to a trusted partner then presents a big advantage.”
