Tieto supports the Swedish industry code for artificial intelligence
19 November 2019
Today, the Swedish IT and Telecom Industries (IT & Telekomföretagen) announced a new industry code for AI. Tieto is supporting these guiding principles on how the industry must act when designing, implementing and managing systems and services concerning AI. “Tieto continues to be a forerunner in the Nordics, and we are actively developing, endorsing and following best practice use and development of AI industry standards. We are glad to see this joint commitment among partners in “Swedish IT and Telecom industries”. This is an important step to enable transparent, human-centric and responsible AI for the benefit of the whole society”, says Christian Guttmann, Global Head of Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, Tieto.
Artificial intelligence has already today a significant impact on many aspects of peoples’ everyday life and the society. Despite the many advantages AI brings, we can see that Nordic consumers are concerned about how the technology is used today. More than eight out of ten (85 per cent) say that they are somewhat worried about the development of AI and only six per cent state that they are not worried at all. This was revealed in Tieto's Nordic AI survey, earlier this year.
“We know that it takes time to build trust in new technologies and especially AI are to a large degree associated with something unfamiliar and negative. As a company, we also recognize that trust must be earned and that we must create AI solutions that are responsibly developed with a high degree of transparency and security. Trust in the technology is essential for our society to fully leverage AI and other data-driven solutions”, says Christian Guttmann.
