Come check out our demo and discuss how we could assist you! You can also schedule a meeting by contacting mariusz.rudnicki@tietoevry.com.

An important part of Tietoevry’s portfolio is to provide cutting edge Software R&D services for Network Equipment Providers, Silicon Vendors, Industrial 5G Vendors, and Communication Service Providers exploring 4G and 5G technologies.

Open RAN (Radio Access Networks) is a topic heavily debated in the mobile networking industry these days. Opinions are as many as people debating. Some say it will revolutionize the industry and change it forever, whilst others say it is by far too immature and will not be efficient enough.

Communication service providers are concerned about the cost and performance of those networks. But further, they are also concerned about the efficiency of these networks and the ability to create new services and business based on 5G as such, in combination with disaggregation and Cloud Native.

Key considerations of the emerging technologies:
These are three topics we would want to discuss, as well as others during the MWC. Where we will have an opportunity to present our capabilities to help you to build your state of the art solutions!

1. Performance optimizations are needed to turn available SW stacks into products for Distributed Units and Radio Units

As the amount of data transported in networks surge, the need for efficient data transport is imminent. Communication service providers are cautious about the power consumed by transporting data. There are huge differences among vendors from using efficient algorithms as well as efficient implementation and silicon features use for the real-time critical workloads. Making maximum use of spectrum through technologies, such as Massive MIMO, require substantial optimization of software stacks.

Check out our capabilities in relation to the very latest silicon solutions including 4th Gen Intel® Xeon® Processors (Sapphire Rapids)

2. Multi-vendor integration remains a key challenge that requires substantial domain knowledge and skills

Open RAN promises to enable mix and match of the different parts of the RAN solution. Yet, some of the key interfaces are highly complex and require high performance. Therefore, resulting in that integration remains to be the key challenge and requires cross-domain technical skills. communication service providers need further to consider their role and vendor independence in such an integration process.

Talk to us on how we can facilitate such an integration setup

3. Edge compute stacks needs careful composition and optimization to meet wanted form-factors and deliver the performance wanted

Edge compute is a market populated by a large variety of open source and commercial solutions. Navigating that and achieving the right mix of SW stacks that are optimized for use cases are a challenge to most. Also we observe a significant HW advancements of the edge infrastructure, which enables the establishment of new telco AI & IoT use cases.
