The way to an efficient EDI-communication

Professional lighting solutions from Glamox are achieving success in the global market. The Norwegian company develops, manufactures, and distributes professional lighting systems for customers in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Efficient Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) communication with business partners is a prerequisite for efficient international trading.

Glamox was looking for a state-of-the-art system to streamline the company’s entire supply chain process – from the ordering of raw material and manufacturing to the order processing of market-ready lighting products and solutions. An additional challenge was the location of manufacturing and sales in multiple countries, which made the maintaining of necessary local EDI competence and resources particularly demanding. Glamox had experienced other related issues, such as meeting the high requirements to EDI formats and version upgrades, the software cost itself as well as managing the continuous need for system upgrades.

One single system across country borders

- We are proud to be a contributor to an enhanced and efficient Supply Chain Management at Glamox. Our joint project has progressed at a fast pace. In only two months, we have delivered a completely new system tailored to Glamox’ advanced and complex requirements. It has been exciting to be able to develop a system from scratch, resulting in an advanced EDI solution developed in close co-operation with the customer. Glamox’ entire EDI communication is now managed through one single system. Via a new web portal, the company can obtain a complete overview of received and shipped orders. Additionally, Glamox’ system is connected to the Pan-European Public Procurement On-Line (PEPPOL) eDelivery network according to international requirements for EDI messaging and format conversion. Operation and incident management are also part of the system, said Roy Martin Nilsen, Partner Manager, Tietoevry.

«As a result of TietoEVRY’s specific knowledge of both EDI solutions and trade partner requirements, the team was able to deliver a solution for successful EDI communication in only a couple of months. » – Nils Korperud, Group IT & Digitalisation Manager, Glamox.
