Tietoevry’s Sustainability report 2021 was published today as part of the company's annual report. The report, prepared in accordance with GRI Standards, represents the company’s sustainability strategy and related targets. It also outlines the company’s ambitions and describes the actions for the climate, ethical conduct as well as creating an exciting place to work.

Tietoevry considers sustainability both as a responsibility and an opportunity. We strive to carry out our own operations in a responsible manner and to reduce carbon emissions in our value chain, not only to meet our stakeholders’ requirements and expectations, but also to drive more sustainable outcomes for our customers and society at large. We help our customers to reduce their carbon footprint, increase their energy efficiency, and reduce their use of natural resources through our digital services and solutions.

The company’s sustainability strategy, the Sustainability game plan 2023 is the foundation for the Sustainability Report 2021. The game plan outlines our long-term sustainability ambitions with concrete KPIs for responsible operations as well as sustainable business impact opportunities.

One of the key KPIs is to increase the female representation in the company in line with our ambitious goal of having a gender-balanced workforce by 2030. As only around 17% of the almost eight million ICT specialists in Europe are women*, we understand that this long-term target requires work on all levels. During the year, we revisited our own processes for successor planning and recruitment practices. We also piloted the use of more inclusive language in our job ads in the Nordics, which resulted in an increase of female applicants by 32%. Overall, in 2021, we saw a 4% increase in women share of new recruits and a 1% increase in women in leadership roles, even if the total share of females in the company remained at 29%.

“Our actions towards net-zero carbon are proceeding well in line with our plans and we have extended our ambitions during the year by aligning them with the Science Based Targets initiative. We see great commitment towards sustainability across our organization and increased customer engagements with sustainability as the driver. This well demonstrates the role of data and digitalization in fostering sustainable development. Our new company purpose – creating purposeful technology that reinvents the world for good – serves as a source of inspiration for the next steps on our journey,” says Kia Haring, Head of Communications and Sustainability.

Our key ambitions towards 2023 and 2021 results:
