Tieto and KADME join forces to increase focus on National Data Repository opportunities to the oil and gas market

16 September 2019

Tieto, the leading Nordic ICT Service and Software company, and KADME, a Norwegian-based highly specialised Exploration and Production (E&P) data management company, have entered into an agreement to cooperate in the international oil and gas market focusing on the growing market for National Data Repositories (NDR).

The companies' complementary capabilities will ensure operators and authorities fast and easy access to high quality E&P data, being stored in a secure, scalable, highly available and function-rich repository.

Tieto has been present in the production and mid-stream domain of the oil and gas market for decades with its Energy Components (EC) solution, being the leading hydrocarbon management solution that offers oil and gas companies fully integrated functionalities to support hydrocarbon accounting, integrated asset modelling, optimization, forecasting and decision support.

Further, being Nordics’ leading ICT company with more than 15.000 employees, Tieto possesses the critical and mandatory capabilities needed to design, build, host and operate modern, secure, and highly scalable and cost effective NDR infrastructure solutions, founded on modern cloud-based architectures and corresponding design methodologies and thinking.

KADME is a leading provider of information management software and services to the oil and gas industry. Kadme’s Whereoil is today a key component in several NDR’s around the world, including the Norwegian Diskos, supporting the fundamental requirement of being an effective data management tool that offers security and enables cooperation between operators, partners and governmental agencies while conforming to national regulations and requirements.

Whereoil’s flexible core functionality, being built around the management of security and data entitlement, makes the platform ideal for national data repository initiatives.  Current version of Whereoil includes modules for trading, data ordering, and analysing license ownership and can integrate with various third-party applications through an open API. KADME’s Whereoil roadmap encompasses key and exiting enhancements and improvements that will make Whereoil even more user friendly and complete for NDR purposes.

Together, Tieto and KADME make up a strong constellation and partner candidate for governmental as well as private NDR customers and their users.

“Through the cooperation with KADME, Tieto becomes an even more complete partner for our current and potentially new oil and gas customers by enabling us to become a serious actor in the NDR market. Combining Tieto’s and KADME’s strong oil & gas domain and software development capabilities with Tieto’s other ICT capabilities, e.g. within cloud, ML and AI, makes this a very strong constellation in the NDR and related markets, says Jon Alvar Øyasæter, Head of Operations in Tieto Oil & Gas.

“By leveraging on Tieto’s strong software development and ICT infrastructure capabilities, as well as their international sales and marketing capabilities, KADME gets “added muscles” which will help making Whereoil an even better solution as well as strengthen our opportunities to expand internationally, says Kjell-Arne Bjerkhaug, CEO in KADME.
