Tieto has entered a new partnership with the Sekasin Collective, an organisation in Finland dedicated to promoting the mental wellbeing of young people. The collaboration focuses on Sekasin Chat, a nationwide digital support service for young people. Through this partnership, Tieto aims to help ensure that no young person in Finland has to face emotional distress alone.
Sekasin Chat is a confidential, anonymous online chat service for young people aged 12–29 across Finland. Young people can talk with trained volunteers as well as professionals from health and social care backgrounds. The service provides support on a wide range of issues, from coping with emotional stress to navigating crises or everyday challenges.
The need for such support continues to grow. In 2025, Sekasin Chat received more than 130,000 contacts, resulting in approximately 55,000 conversations with young people. According to user feedback, 86% of young people reported that they would have been left alone with their worries without the service, and over 90% would recommend the chat to others.
Digital communities provide a safe and accessible space to be heard and to receive timely support.
“We can best support young people’s wellbeing by meeting them where they are, both in everyday life and in digital environments. Digital communities provide a safe and accessible space to be heard and to receive timely support. Our collaboration with Tieto strengthens our ability to respond to the growing demand for support,” says Johanna Virtanen, Executive Director of the Sekasin Collective.
We want to help build a society where technology enables meaningful solutions and makes support more accessible.
“Together with our partners, we have been working consistently to improve the future of young people. We want to help build a society where technology enables meaningful solutions and makes support more accessible. Sekasin Chat embodies all of this, and this partnership is deeply meaningful to us. After all, what could be more important than ensuring that no young person is left alone with their worries?” says Jonna Peltola, Tieto’s Head of Communications and Brand.
Tieto’s support will help to strengthen the service’s resources. We also aim to raise awareness and create opportunities for Tieto employees in Finland to contribute to the wellbeing of young people through the partnership. The collaboration forms part of Tieto’s broader international commitment to support children and young people by promoting community, inclusion, and the positive use of technology.
Sekasin initiative is enabled by a broad national network of more than 50 organisations, including municipalities, wellbeing services counties, parishes, educational institutions, and a large group of volunteers and professionals in the social, health, and youth sectors. The initiative is co-led by MIELI Mental Health Finland, the Finnish Red Cross, the Finnish Settlement Association, and SOS Children’s Villages Finland. This year marks the 10-year anniversary of the initiative,
