The OEM experienced that in certain roaming situations vehicles seemed to lose data connectivity and eventually denied sending or receiving data. With various operators and tech suppliers involved, the OEM was unable to conduct a root cause for problems. The connectivity trouble was turned around by sending data over SMS that incurred substantial roaming costs for the OEM and provided a degraded customer experience.
Tieto’s telecom specialists in cellular modems, networks and SIM cards analysed the root cause of the acute problem and improved both the vehicles’ and service providers’ network. The problem was solved minimizing recalls or visits to the dealers.
