TietoEVRY to develop citizens’ services for Finland’s Legal Register Centre

27 May 2020

TietoEVRY and Finland’s Legal Register Centre (LRC) have signed a new contract for the further development of digital citizens’ services. Expanding a long term relationship, the latest project covers application management and service production of legal aid, and financial and debt counseling systems. The project is a part of the Legal Register Centre’s overall operations standardization and development drive, which will bring improved digital services for Finnish citizens.

Finland’s Legal Register Centre (LRC) is driving improved service production agility. Through the cooperation with TietoEVRY, LRC can more efficiently provide and develop its digital services to meet the evolving needs of Finnish citizens. For citizens, this translates into a faster and smoother customer experience in legal aid, and financial and debt counseling services.

”At the end of the day, digitalization is first and foremost about serving customers better,” says Timo Ala-Fossi, Head of Unit, Legal Register Centre. “It is the benefit of all parties – customers, citizens, our organization and the society – that services are developed in an agile way to meet not only current needs, but also future needs.”

Legal aid, and financial and debt counselling aid are citizens’ services provided by the Ministry of Justice. Legal aid provides individuals the possibility to obtain assistance for legal matters fully or partially at the expense of the state. Financial and debt counselling services, provided free of charge, can assist in reviewing a person’s overall financial situation, planning finances and drawing up debt settlement proposals for creditors.

“As the current pandemic has demonstrated, technology plays an important role in the well-being of the society. We take pride in being involved in the development of citizens’ services, especially in an area such as debt counselling; when needing these services, a person may feel overwhelmed, and needs them to be easy and smooth,” says Petteri Äijö, Customer Executive, TietoEVRY. “The Legal Register Centre is our long-time customer, and we have a clear, shared long term vision of how to digitalize their services to help citizens.”
