Accelerating cloud transformation calls for productivity improvement in traditional infrastructure services – employee consultations initiated in Sweden and Norway

29 April 2021

Continued industry-wide transformation in infrastructure services means increased demand for new multi-cloud services and calls for productivity improvement in traditional services. In line with this development, TietoEVRY Cloud & Infra business plans to take action to ensure its competitiveness by adjusting capacity, increasing automation, reducing administrative roles and further utilizing global delivery model. Consequently, the company initiates employee consultations in Sweden and Norway.

TietoEVRY Cloud & Infra business is competing on a global market with increasing use of multi-cloud technologies and automation driving competitiveness and causing price pressure especially in traditional infrastructure services. The shift in market demand from traditional infrastructure services to advisory-led cloud services speeds up the change in the industry. Due to this change and contracts lost prior to the merger in traditional infrastructure services, Cloud & Infra needs to drive further efficiencies.

With the aim of adjusting capacity, reducing overlapping and administrative roles, increasing automation and further utilizing global delivery model, Cloud & Infra has initiated employee consultations with the labor unions. These measures are estimated to affect up to 300 roles in total, including up to 150 in Sweden and 150 in Norway. The consultation processes will be conducted according to the legislation and practices in each country and are expected to be concluded by the end of the third quarter of 2021.

“We see an accelerated change in the market environment creating opportunities for us to enable our customers’ cloud transformation. However, to adapt to the changes in the market including increased price competition in the traditional infrastructure services, we need to take action to rebalance our cost base. We will do all we can to support the affected employees and minimize the impact on them by trying to identify new opportunities for them in other parts of company and continuously striving for winning new business,” says Johan Torstensson, Head of Cloud & Infra at TietoEVRY.
