TietoEVRY joins global Zigbee Alliance to drive the development of connected devices

Did you know that TietoEVRY has enabled over 100 million smart connected devices running embedded software on Android, Linux and RTOS platforms?

TietoEVRY joins the Zigbee Alliance to accelerate the development and interoperability of connected devices, products and platforms. TietoEVRY provides software R&D services for the development of connected devices in the areas of industrial and consumer electronics.

The Zigbee Alliance is an organization of hundreds of companies that work together to steer connections within the Internet of Things. Zigbee Alliance members collaborate to create, maintain and deliver open, global technology standards to address the unique needs of low-cost, low-power wireless IoT networks and to promote interoperability of devices and products.

By joining the Alliance, TietoEVRY will contribute to the development of Zigbee Alliance technologies. For example in the area of Connected Home, alliance members contribute into creation of a unifying standard for the smart home industry, and support commercialization by increasing compatability among IoT products and ecosystems.

“We are excited to join the Zigbee Alliance. We believe that by being part of this powerful ecosystem, we can better solve connectivity and interoperability-related challenges for our customers when developing connected devices, products and platforms for them,” said Arto Makkonen, Vice President, Electronics software R&D business at TietoEVRY. “At the same time, we can provide valuable input into the evolution of the technologies within the Zigbee Alliance. For example, we will actively contribute to the development and promotion of a new connectivity standard for smart homes and buildings.”

“As a leader in the digital transformation space, TietoEVRY knows all about the importance of good digital connections,” said Chris LaPré, IoT Architect, Zigbee Alliance. “We welcome them into the Zigbee Alliance fold and look forward to the insight and expertise they’ll contribute to our working groups as our members align and together to pave the way forward into the digital future.”

TietoEVRY has enabled over 100 million smart devices running embedded software on Android, Linux and RTOS platforms, including high-end smartphones, MFi and HomeKit products, new Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) device implementations, luxury wearable devices and some of the first Android Automotive OS-based cars.
