TietoEVRY joins other major Finnish companies to support increasing COVID-19 testing capacity in Finland

31 March 2020

Together with other major Finnish companies, TietoEVRY is involved in a project to expand the testing of coronavirus samples through international cooperation.

Mehiläinen, a private health care provider in Finland, has created a process, where covid-19 tests carried out in Finland will be sent to a laboratory in South Korea for analysis on Finnair's charter flights. The goal is to nearly double the amount of coronavirus tests in Finland and have 18,000 samples analyzed in South Korea during the next two weeks. The aim is to test especially people working in jobs critical to the functioning of the society

Being the digital backbone of the Finnish society, it is crucial for TietoEVRY to secure the continuity of the critical functions of the society and to support in solving the common challenge.

“As a responsible company, we want to do our share in protecting the health of Finnish people, and to support in keeping the wheels of the economy running during these tough times. We believe that increasing the testing capacity is needed to help the society to solve the crisis faster – recovering from this situation as soon as possible is in the mutual interest for all of us”, says Satu Kiiskinen, Managing Partner, Finland.

The Finnish companies involved are Fazer, Kesko, Ensto, Kone, Metso, Metsä Group, Neste, OP, UPM, Wärtsilä, and Valmet.
