A modern industrial company gets everything from the cloud

A strong transformation partner with extensive knowledge in both Microsoft and To-Increase technologies can help you maximize the chances of success.

Companies effectively utilizing data and AI are rapidly gaining a competitive edge in their industries. Why companies should now seriously invest into a cloud ecosystem that offers agility and integratability? It is a question of boosting efficiency in production, logistics and subcontracting, and the ability to invest into new services.

With the cloud, we have now moved to an evergreen era in ERPs, where development is based on continuous improvement. Heavy ERP projects every ten years and large one-time investments are now history. In the cloud, the newest features are always available as development cycles accelerate. Smooth deployment, flexibility and costs based on use are valued features of cloud solutions. The duration of ERP projects can be cut substantially.

Choose an ecosystem with care

It is crucially important to choose your ecosystem with care, because some offer only data centre resources from the cloud, but not business solutions. Others offer ERP from the cloud, but no value-added solutions based on the same technology.

Our partner Microsoft offers technology for business digitalization from three seamlessly integrated clouds. You can obtain AI, analytics, integrations, IoT and data centre resources from Azure. Business processes are available for clients from the Dynamics 365 cloud. Customers can purchase user interfaces, basic software and communication solutions from the O365 cloud. The usability of information systems is improved, and employees can access the information they need conveniently from their own data terminals. Digital services can be built for instance for professionals working in factories.

Modular solutions offered by Microsoft's partners enable special functionalities and industry specific solutions that Microsoft's own solutions do not offer. Microsoft's ecosystem covers innovative 'best of breed' solutions from approximately 600.000 partners also for manufacturing industry. They are positioned into Microsoft environments like Lego blocks.

A good example are special solutions created by software company To-Increase. The software is based on deep understanding of the industry. Discrete manufacturing companies can utilise these solutions for producing special solutions, as well as customer-specific offers or products. Deploying ready solutions such as bidding calculators or project tools is fast.

As Microsoft's and To-Increase's partner, Tieto helps companies choose the most suitable cloud solutions for them. Automation expands and agility is taken to a new level. Expensive tailor-made solutions are no longer needed. Deliveries become faster when value-add solutions are part of the same technology.

Better products and new services

Manufacturing companies are also investing into service transformation, i.e. developing new business models and procedures. They need to operate in increasingly networked environments, and integratable information systems are required for instance for managing subcontractor networks.

Digital feedback and continual information flow are at the centre of service transformation. The development of products and services is accelerated when data is collected from the customers and employees, as well as from products and processes. IoT sensors produce valuable information to enhance product development and maintenance. Weak signals can also be identified from data and digital impulses. What do they tell us about the future and product life cycle? In a cloud environment IoT equipment can also be connected more flexibly to the ERP. Customer experience and services can be developed, and new sales opportunities identified.

An interesting example of digital feedback comes from Rolls-Royce. Data is collected from the jet engines it manufactures with 200 sensors. With Microsoft's cloud solutions, Rolls-Royce has been able to improve the quality of its maintenance services and sell more maintenance deals. In the cloud, you can monitor for example the fuel consumption of jet engines at different speeds and with varying cargo. AI identifies and analyses deviations from the data, which means parts that are likely to malfunction in the future can be identified well in advance and more cost-efficient ways of utilizing the engines can be found. Product development can also be enhanced.

An agile cloud environment is needed to build new service business, in acquisitions, mergers, and in connecting a new production unit to the company's architecture.

Tieto experts are here to help you

It is great to see medium-sized companies investing into digitalization as well. New cloud technology can enable a change in business in which business needs take central stage.

Tieto's experts help companies renew their architecture, which is optimally suited for enhancing digital services and digital experience. Tieto's strength lies in its ability to offer customers business-oriented, large-scale support not only in Finland, but in the Nordics and Baltic Sea region countries as well. Tieto's experts and teams help companies choose the best solutions from Microsoft's cloud ecosystem and keep development and change initiatives under control. What kind of solutions does your company need in increasing competition? What advantages can you achieve with it?

D365 ERP from the cloud can drive sales and product development in Finland, production in Poland or the Baltics, and warehouses in the Nordics. Information systems and solutions are accessible from all data terminals. You need to be able to efficiently connect data, people and equipment.
